It is used for the relief of pain, inflammation, swelling and tenderness in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and in acute pain. The active ingredient diclofenac diethylamine works by blocking the action of a chemical messenger ( nerve-building chemical called cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) that is responsible for producing pain signals) in the body. This relieves pain, inflammation, swelling and tenderness in the body. It can also reduce the time it takes to heal a broken skin and relieve pain.
Dosage:Apply twice a day (morning and evening) for 4 weeks. Take the gel once a day. Do not use more than 6 g of gel in 24 hours. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days consult your doctor. Do not use if you are allergic to diclofenac or aspirin or any other pain relievers. If symptoms do not improve after 3 days apply to skin with no visible signs.
Warnings:Do not use Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength if: you are pregnant or breastfeedingYou are allergic to diclofenac or any other pain-reducing medicine or any other ingredients in the product you are using Voltaren Emulgel. Always consult your doctor before using in case you are taking any other medicines or any of the ingredients in the product. Do not use Voltaren Emulgel if you have an asthma attack, a peptic ulcer, a heart attack or a stroke. Stop using and see your doctor immediately if: You experience any of the following signs of stomach bleeding You have heart problems or are at risk of (chest pain, irregular heartbeat, chest pain)You have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding disorders You are pregnant or are breast-feeding You are taking other medicines called COX-1 inhibitors (medicines that reduce the activity of the cyclooxygenase-1) or other COX-1 inhibitors (medicines that reduce the activity of the COX-1 enzyme)You are taking other medicines called NSAIDs (pain relievers)You are taking other anti-inflammatory drugs (medicines used to treat arthritis, other forms of arthritis or pain)Stop using and see your doctor if: You experience any of the following symptoms sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes (fever, chills, shortness of breath) or other symptoms of a severe upper digestive system swelling You have any of the following conditions that may cause you to bleed: a stomach ulcer or bleeding disorder You have had a heart attack or stroke You have high cholesterol, a high or triglyceride in your blood (fat in your blood)You are allergic to aspirin, diclofenac, ibuprofen, other painkillers, warfarin, other NSAIDs, any other anti-inflammatory medications, or any other medicines. You are taking any other medicine or any other right medicines. If you are not sure whether you are using any of the listed medicines or if you have any right medicines, check with your doctor or pharmacist. You are advised to start taking Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength once a day if you are using it for the first time, but you should not use more than 3 g of it in 24 hours. Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength should not be used with other medicines that contain NSAIDs (pain relievers, COX-1 inhibitors), which are: aspirin, ibuprofen, and other pain relievers. Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength can also be used with other medicines containing diclofenac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs (pain relievers, COX-1 inhibitors). Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength may affect how well it works if used correctly by your doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Do not use Voltaren Emulgel if you are also taking a medicine called cyclo-oxygenase-1 (COX-1) inhibitors.
